Somaliland Protectorate 1903 (2 Nov) 2r carmine & yellow-brown, overprint at foot, variety ‘SUMALILAND' (R1/3, top left pane), SG22b.

A brilliant quality mint example with original gum.

A very rare and visually appealing overprint variety with a maximum of 18 possible examples.

These stamps of India were overprinted in Calcutta.

Stamps of India were used at the two post offices (Barbara and Zeila) from 1 January 1887 to 1903. The Protectorate Post Office was then established on 1 June 1903, when control of British Somaliland was transferred from the Indian Government to the British Foreign Office.

Accompanied with a British Philatelic Association (BPA) certificate of authenticity (2001).
