Described as the single most important figure in Japan's rapid growth, Hayato Ikeda (1899-1965) was a forceful Japanese politician. He became the 58th, 59th and 60th Prime Minister for Japan in 1960, 1963 and 1964 respectively.
He was instrumental in the resolution of numerous labour disputes and his policies led to an incredible explosion in economic growth.
