New Zealand 1899 (early) 9d imperforate plate proof in purple (the original 1898 colour) on ungummed wove, SG267.
A fine block of 4 with mostly large margins (a little close at lower right). Printed by Waterlow from the "colonial" plate, before it was despatched to New Zealand.
An important philatelic display piece of this wonderful stamp issue depicting the stunning Pink Terrace, Rotomahana also known as "the fountain of the clouded sky".
