Malaya - Trengganu 1941 set of 4 to 15c ultramarine, unissued
Malaya - Trengganu 1941 "Sultan Suleiman" 2c yellow-orange, 6c slate-grey, 8c rose, 15c ultramarine, all on ordinary paper, in left marginal blocks of 4 (2c from lower left corner).
A fine unmounted mint set with full original gum.
Prepared for use but not issued. 8c block with tiny traces of gum toning but all of very fresh appearance.
These stamps were despatched to Malaya in late 1941, but didn't arrive before the Japanese occupation and were, therefore, never issued.
Rare and most attractive in blocks.
Suzerainty over Trengganu was transferred by Thailand to Great Britain in 1909. A British adviser was appointed in 1919. The state joined the Federation of Malaya on 1 February 1948.
