Armstrong has signed his name handsomely in black ink.
The item may have originally been inserted in an LP of the film's soundtrack.
In fair condition. It features a large vertical fold through the centre.
Excellent provenance. Armstrong signed it for the consignor in person at the stage door following a performance in Helsinki, Finland in the late 50s, early 60s.
The Five Pennies was a 1959 film starring Danny Kaye, which featured a cameo from Louis Armstrong. It received four Oscar nominations.
Louis Armstrong (1901-1971) was one of the early stars of jazz.
He began his career in New Orleans in the early 1900s, playing in drinking dens and riverboat saloons.
Over the course of his life he influenced several generations of jazz musicians, became a prominent voice in the civil rights movement and even starred in a series of movies.
