Half-length second crowned bust of King James I right, holding orb and sceptre.
Lettering: ·IACOBVS·D·G·MAG·BRIT·FRAN·ET·HIB·REX·
Translation: James by the Grace of God King of Great Britain, France and Ireland
Crowned quartered shield dividing monogram on the reverse.
Lettering: ·FACIAM·EOS·IN·GENTEM·VNAM·I R
Translation: I will make them one nation
The Unite was valued at 22 shillings from 1612 until 1619 when it was replaced by the new, lighter Laurel.
