GB Specialised Catalogue No: N72(1).
A scarce high value Seahorses stamp in such pristine condition.
The King George V Seahorses stamps are considered by many collectors to be the finest stamp design ever issued by Great Britain.
They were in circulation longer than any other British high value stamp: 26 years between 1913 and 1939.
The imagery of the stamp made a bold statement to the world. One noble piece of paper that encapsulated the meaning of being “proud to be British”.
It was designed as a small piece of propaganda on the eve of World War I, at a time when Britain ruled the waves and commanded the largest empire in history.
