Great Britain 1883 9d dull green (watermark sideways inverted) Specimens, SG199var.
A very fine and fresh unused, with original gum, block of four lettered 'DB-EC', overprinted "SPECIMEN" type 9. One blunt perforation at right, which does not detract from what is a wonderful block with good colour and centring not often seen with this overprint and watermark combination.
These Specimen examples were used solely by postal administrations for reference purposes to help spot any attempted forgeries.
