A superb entire letter from Rio De Janeiro, Brazil to London, manuscript "8" for incoming ship letter rate on the front.

The reverse bearing a superb crisp strike of the rare Guernsey Ship Letter handstamp in black alongside a Guernsey circular date stamp also in black for 'AP.20.1842' and a London receiver circular date stamp for 'AP.24.1842 in red'.

This handstamp is recorded in use only in 1842 and believed to be one of seven known examples.
