Obverse: Crowned bust of Charles left, wearing elaborate ruff and ermine, denomination ‘XX’ behind. ‘CAROLVS D’G’ MAG’ BRI’ FRAN’ ET HIB’ REX’.
Reverse: Crowned, garnished Royal Arms, ‘FACIAM EOS IN GENTEM VNAM'’ (I will make them into one nation).
Handsome piece, well struck marvellous detail to the bust of the king. Scarce thus. This piece is particularly interesting as it is was issued in the first year of Charles's reign and thus he is represented
on the coin in his coronation robes — the elaborate ruff, ermine mantle and gold chin. Very good portrait indeed.
Good Very Fine.
