Elizabeth Petrovna (1709 – 162) reigned as Empress of Russia from 1741 until 1762.
She was the second-eldest daughter of Tsar Peter the Great, and was one of the best-loved monarchs in the nation's history.
She oversaw an 'Age of Enlightenment' is Russia, and was immensely popular due to her decision not to execute a single person during her reign.
An order from Elizabeth regarding food for peasants, on an off-white sheet, measuring 8” by 12”.
Handwritten and signed in Cyrillic, and dated May 6, 1737.
It translates as:
Decree of our Patrimonial[Ancestral Lands, or just Land Estates] Office
We command that, if, after the expending of the oats by October of this year, there remain oats at our stock yard, we should immediately lend forty-four quarters of good oats for seed to our peasants of Tsarskoye Selo from this department.
