China 1895-96 (Shanghai) Amoy Local Post: "Herons in a Marsh" 2c blue (stone I) Postage Due overprint in red, SGD8.
A fine mint and fresh example with large part original gum.
Very scarce, particularly in such fine condition.
Amoy is situated on an island off the coast of Fukien Province. Shanghai stamps overprinted with “AMOY” were used initially when it was opened to foreign commerce by the Treaty of Nanking in 1842. The Amoy Local Post was established on 1 April 1895.
