Invaluable to host online bids for Graceland Elvis Auction
Graceland Auctions is preparing for its biggest-ever sale of Elvis Presley memorabilia later this month, direct from the King's former home.
And for those who can't make it all the way to Memphis, online auction platform Invaluable will allow collectors from around the world to bid in real time of their own piece of rock and roll history.
“We are very excited to be working with Graceland Auctions to once again offer online bidding on its third auction of rare and authentic Elvis Presley artifacts and memorabilia,” said Rob Weisberg, Invaluable CEO. “Online bidders came out in full force to participate in The Auction at Graceland this past January, and we are thrilled to offer the iconic Elvis Presley items included in this sale to our bidders around the world.”
The sale will be the third of its kind held at Presley's Graceland home and features the most comprehensive catalogue yet, with 174 lots set to cross the block.
The sale's leading lot is sure to be Presley's light blue 'Starburst' Jumpsuit, worn at concerts throughout 1973 including performances at the Las Vegas Hilton. One of only a handful of jumpsuits not owned by the Graceland estate, the stage-worn suit is expected to sell for $100,000-$150,000.
Further highlights will include a jacket worn by Elvis onscreen in 'Viva Las Vegas'; a guitar bearing the signatures of Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins and Jerry Lee Lewis, otherwise known as the Million Dollar Quartet; a Gold Owl-shaped ring gifted to a fan from the stage; and even his Walther PPK hand gun.
"We expect fans, music collectors and pop culture enthusiasts from around the world will participate in this unprecedented auction, with all 174 lots expertly authenticated by the staff of Graceland Authenticated," said Graceland Auctions Managing Director Laura Pickett.
“Previous Graceland Auctions have generated far greater bids than projected, and we believe this sale will be equally as exciting. We look forward to working with Invaluable to offer online bidding to collectors around the world.”
The Auction at Graceland takes place in Memphis, Tennessee on August 13, as part of the annual Elvis Week celebrations.
