Profiles in History has announced details of a forthcoming sale featuring the estate of legendary Hollywood casting director and historian Marvin Paige.

The auction, set for Spring 2016, will feature thousands of items from Paige's personal collection including vintage movie posters, scripts, an archive of photographs and negatives, signed first edition books and a wealth of material from his long career.

Paige began his career in 1961 with the classic comedy Breakfast at Tiffany’s,  and later served as the casting director on such films as Star Trek: The Motion Picture, and the early Woody Allen comedies Take the Money and Run and Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Sex.

He also worked on classic TV shows such as Lassie, Planet of the Apes and Charlie's Angels, and gave stars such as Demi Moore and Tia Carrere their big break whilst casting almost 100 episodes of General Hospital, for which he received two Artios nominations from the Casting Society of America.

In addition, Paige helped book showbusiness figures for numerous organizations including AMPAS, AFI, the American Cinematheque and the Night of 100 Stars Oscar party.

“Marvin also was the go-to guy for wrangling iconic celebrities to be involved with major events like the Academy Awards, Oscar parties, the TCM Classic Film Festival. He’s who you called,” said his publicist Edward Lozzi, following his death in 2013.

In his later years he established the Motion Picture and Television Research Archive, an invaluable resource for film and television historians containing thousands of entertainment-related items.

Highlights from Paige's extensive collection will include rare posters from The Wizard of Oz and Curse of the Cat People; an original vintage copy of the final script for The Exorcist; a signed shooting script and production clapperboard from Titanic; and a signed first edition book from Truman Capote.

The sale will also feature signed photographs from the likes of Robert Mitchum, Jane Russell, Irving Thalberg, C.B. DeMille, Margaret O’Brien and Douglas Fairbanks, and shooting scripts from classic films including All About Eve, Breakfast at Tiffany’s, One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, Easter Parade, Laura and Dial M for Murder.
