Vintage Fiestaware Coffee Pots
Vintage Fiestaware Coffee Pots are coffe pots produced during the mid-20th century by the Homer Laughlin China Company.
Brief history and description
Fiestaware is a form of brightly coloured ceramic tableware, first introduced by the Homer Laughlin China Company in 1936.
The premise of Fiestaware is simply to allow customers the option to pick and choose items for their own individual dinnerware collections rather than having to commit to an entire set in a particular colour or pattern.
This eclectic approach proved initially popular, though the line was removed from the market in the mid-1970’s, only to be reissued in 1985 with a new design. The mild variations between older pieces and newer pieces should prove useful to collectors seeking to obtain vintage Fiestaware.
Guide for collectors
Vintage Fiestaware pieces appear not only at conventional live auctions, but at online auctioneers such as eBay, where collectors may find low start prices and rare bargains. As with any online purchase, if choosing to purchase vintage Fiestaware online, prospective collectors are strongly advised to check the condition of a piece before purchasing.
The Homer Laughlin China Company also sells pieces direct from their website, as well as providing additional information about the Fiestaware range.
Fiestaware is available at websites such as Amazon, though these are newer pieces rather than vintage finds, and often retail in the region of $20 for small colour-coordinated sets.
Amongst the higher prices paid at auction for a vintage Fiestaware coffee pot is $600, for a coffee pot sold as part of a lot comprising an additional 57 pieces of Fiestaware, which auctioned from Jackson’s Auctions on 28th April 2005.
Individually, the coffee pots sell for prices generally ranging between $30-$100.
For lots comprised of a few items, prices are frequently closer to the region of $100-200.
Amongst the lower prices paid for a vintage Fiestaware coffee pot is just $20, for a vintage coral pink art deco style Fiestaware coffee pot, which auctioned on 5th December 2009 from Auctions Neapolitan.
