Steiff Louis Vuitton teddy bear
The bear is the only teddy that Louis Vuitton has made in their 150 year history. Sometimes known as the Louis Vuitton Monogram Bear, it is speckled with the trademark “LV” logo.
The teddy bear is named “DouDou” by Louis Vuitton, which is the French equivalent of a security blanket or “luvie”.
Only 500 Louis Vuitton Steiff bears were made.

Steiff are a German teddy bear manufacturer founded by Margarete Steiff in the 19th century.
Margarete Steiff’s nephew, Richard Steiff designed “Bear 55PB”in 1902, the world’s first toy bear with jointed arms and legs.
In 1903, Margarete allowed Richard to present the bear at the Leipzig Toy Fair. An American businessman saw the bear and placed an order for 3,000.
From 1906 onwards, the bear sold under the name “Teddy bear” after US president Theodore “Teddy” Roosevelt.
On October 14, 2000, a Steiff Louis Vuitton teddy bear was sold at the Monaco “Teddies de l’An 2000” auction. It was sold for 418,000 DM which is close to $195,000 to Mr Jessie Kim, a South Korean businessman.
