Maurice Utrillo art stars in artwork, porcelain, fine estate jewellery auction

Over 400 lots will feature in this sale, including a stunning work signed by artist Maurice Utrillo

Over 400 lots of original artwork, porcelain, fine estate jewellery, cut glass, silver, bronze and furniture will be sold at a multi-estate sale planned for Saturday, September 24 by Elite Decorative Arts.

The auction will be held in the firm's showroom facility, located in the Quantum Town Center at 1034 Gateway Boulevard in Boynton Beach, US.

The first gavel will come down promptly at 1 pm (EST), with a healthy live turnout expected and online bidding also available.

One lot carries a pre-sale estimate of $80,000-$100,000. It is an original Paris street scene, done in oil on canvas in the open air style of French artist Maurice Utrillo (1883-1955).

The stunning work is signed on the front lower right corner "Maurice Utrillo" and depicts the subtle shades, shadowed streets and sunlit sky that are characteristic of the artist in the 1940s.

Other original oil on canvas paintings expected to do well will include a waterway scene with buildings, boats and trees visible by Jacques Buoyssou (Fr., 1926-1997), signed lower right (estimated at $6,000-$8,000).

Also for sale is a figural nude rendering (from the waist up) by Pal Fried (Hungarian, 1893-1976). The signed and numbered work, titled Sandra, should hammer for $4,000-$5,000.

Antique clocks will feature a massive 9-tube grandfather hall clock manufactured in London, England by J.J. Elliot, Ltd. The massive example of a transitional rococo Neoclassical period time piece, 103 inches tall, should bring $15,000-$20,000. Also sold will be a circa-1900 French champlev and brass regulator clock by Samuel Marti of Paris (estimated at $2,000-$2,500).

Fine estate jewellery is a surefire crowd pleaser that always commands high dollars, and this sale's got plenty, to include a 3.46-carat round brilliant cut diamond ring, boasting SI-2 in clarity and H in colour (estimated at$20,000-$25,000); and a gentleman's 18kt yellow gold Rolex Daytona Oyster perpetual wristwatch, with original box and paperwork (estimated at $10,000-$13,000).
