Mary Kay Barbie doll
The Mary Kay Barbie doll is a limited-edition Barbie doll offered as a prize to top-selling consultants in the U.S cosmetics firm Mary Kay.
Mary Kay is an international cosmetics firm founded in Dallas, Texas in 1963. The Mary Kay doll was produced by Mattel in 2003, and offered as a gift prize to the company’s top-selling consultants during that year (their 40th anniversary).
It was never released for sale to the public, and produced in relatively small numbers (although there are no exact production figures).
The Mary Kay Barbie doll
The blonde doll wears a Mary Kay red recruiter jacket adorned with a Star Consultant pin badge, along with a black knee-length skirt, hose, pearl necklace and black shoes. It also comes complete with a black handbag containing miniature Mary Kay leaflets.
How much is a Mary Kay Barbie doll worth?
The dolls are collector’s items due to the fact that they were never sold to the public. However, as many recipients of the dolls kept them in their boxes there are a large number of NIB examples available on auction sites such as eBay.
This means that although many are offered for sale at prices between $75 and $150, the average sale price is around $30 - $50.
