I Love Lucy dress valued at $60,000 with Profiles in History

The dress worn by Lucille Ball in I Love Lucy stars in the Dreier Collection auction

On July 30, Profiles in History will auction the second part of the Dreier Collection in California, with the dress that Lucille Ball wore in the hit TV series I Love Lucy set to star.

The signature polka dot dress will sell with an estimate of $40,000-60,000, as the highest-valued lot of the sale.

I Love Lucy aired on American TV between 1951 and 1957, and was the most watched programme in the US for four of its six seasons. It has since been syndicated in dozens of countries across the world.

The dress was designed by Elois Jenssen and served as the master dress for character Lucy Ricardo. It is described by the auction house as "the Holy Grail of all female television costumes".

An original Golden Ticket from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory will follow the dress, valued at $12,000-15,000.

A highly-coveted item for anyone who watched the 1971 musical as a child, this is the same ticket that was found by Veruca Salt in the film, as verified by an authentication from the actress who played Salt, Julie Dawn Cole.

The Terminator jacket bears the scars of its extensive screen use

Also featuring is the iconic leather jacket and gloves worn by Arnold Scwarzenegger in The Terminator. With the jacket bearing tears and bullet holes, and the gloves ripped at the knuckles and blood-stained, the lot is expected to make $12,000-15,000.
