Apollo 15 cuff checklist to highlight online auction at $250,000

A lunar dust-covered cuff checklist worn on the Apollo 15 mission will auction on November 29

A complete cuff checklist worn during the Apollo 15 mission's lunar landing will highlight an upcoming auction of space memorabilia.

Bidding for the online-only sale will open on November 15 and close on November 29. The checklist is expected to provide the highest selling lot, with the auction house stating that it is among "the rarest and most desirable of all flown space memorabilia".

Apollo 15 Cuff Checklist Dave ScottChecklists such as this are very rarely seen at auction

The checklist was worn by Apollo 15 commander Dave Scott during the fourth-ever moon landings. Coated in lunar dust, it spent over six hours and 33 minutes on the moon's surface strapped to Scott's cuff, and provided invaluable guidance while the astronauts explored the Marsh of Decay.

Apollo lunar surface extra vehicular activity (EVA) artefacts are rarely seen at auction, and most cuff checklists are currently house in institutions or the private collections of the moonwalkers themselves. According to the auction house, individual pages from a checklist such as thiswould sell for tens of thousands should they be offered for sale, making the complete item a "priceless" addition to only the most discerning collection.

Featuring 20 double-sided pages of complex instructions, with an arm braceand Velcro wristband to hold it in place, the checklist is expected to see bids in the region of $250,000. Its value is increased further by the addition of Dave Scott's signature on the inside cover.

Also featuring in the sale is a superb array of Apollo 11 memorabilia, including a data clip that once housed checklists and charts inside the mission's lunar module. Accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Buzz Aldrin, it will sell with a minimum bid of $2,500.

Paul Fraser Collectibles has a superb selection of signed Apollo 11 memorabilia currently available. The undoubted star of our collection is an original signed Apollo 11 training suit, which Buzz Aldrin wore in preparation for his historic voyage.
