SKU JC3067

Indian Feudatory States Jaipur 1932-37 4a black and grey-green Official, inscribed 'POSTAGE & REVENUE', overprinted 'SERVICE', SGO20.

A brilliant quality mint example with large part original gum. Trivial gum bends, which does not detract from what is a stunning quality example and much fresher than usually found.

A very scarce stamp in unused condition.

Jaipur was a Princely State in the Jaipur Residency of the Rajputana Agency (presently part of Rajasthan). It is considered one of the world's most beautiful cities and is famous for being the world’s first planned city, built in 1726-30.

This 'Service' Official stamp used for government mail features Maharaja Sawai Man Singh II who was the last ruling Maharaja of Jaipur State. He ruled the princely state between 1922 and 1949.

The Stanley Gibbons catalogue value is £450.
