Falkland Islands Dependencies 1954-62 ½d black and deep green, De La Rue 1962 printing, complete folded sheet of 60 (12x5) with full margins showing imprint and "1 1" plate numbers, additionally showing full frame plate reference number "45956" at foot, SGG26a.
A fine unmounted mint entire sheet with full original gum. As normal for sheets of this size, there are a few trivial bends.
Very scarce in this intact form.
The stamp features the RRS John Biscoe I (1947-1952) which was the first ship purchased by the Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey for $75,000 for use as a supply and research vessel. Previous to this, it had been used as a net-laying ship during the Second World War.
