Gerhard Richter P10 Bagdad print
- An original print by German contemporary artist Gerhard Richter
Gerhard Richter is one of the most acclaimed contemporary artists working today. His now iconic Abstraktes Bild paintings are amongst the most desirable works on the market, with one selling at auction in 2015 for $46m.
This group of works is based on Richter’s seminal Flow paintings, which were created by capturing poured enamel paints on a glass surface. High-resolution photographs of the originals have been transformed into chromatographic prints, precisely reproducing the combination of chance gesture and careful composition within the originals.
These editions are referred to by the artist as "facsimile objects"; although they proceed from the Flow paintings, this series is distinct from the originals in a number of ways. In some cases, the artist has decided to present them differently; in others, they represent the only version of paintings that no longer exist. Where the original paintings have been damaged, the editions have been produced using digitally reconstructed images.
Gerhard Richter's P10 Bagdad is a 50 x 40 cm Diasec-mounted chromogenic print on aluminium, 2014. The item is in mint condition.
