A very fine example printed in black on white glazed card (61x92mm) with corner letters and plate numbers void, endorsed "BEFORE HARDENING" and dated "Dec 12, 1872".
Produced by De La Rue for a proposed issue with coloured corner letters. The die was never used as the 10d value was withdrawn.
A scarce specialised Queen Victoria philatelic piece.
