SOUTH AFRICA 1926-37 1d black and carmine error, SG31b
£695.00
South Africa 1926-27 1d black and carmine, Pretoria typo printing, block of 4, the left vertical pair ERROR IMPERFORATE THREE SIDES, SG31b.
A brilliant mint block of four with large part original gum. A few shortish perforations and the lower pair with suspicion of a gum bend. Regardless of very minor condition issues it remains overall attractive and very fresh.
A spectacular example of this rare error.
A lovely stamp depicting Dromedaris (Jan van Riebeeck's ship), the arrival of which in the Cape on 6th April 1652 marked the beginning of permanent European settlement in the region.
The Stanley Gibbons catalogue value is £1,100.
