Inscribed by London on flyleaf: "The actions & the atmosphere in this book are real & true. Let any doubting Thomas for to the Solomons today, & when he returns He'll say that I mercifully expurgated a bit more than a trifle. Jack London. Glen Ellen, Calif. Feb. 1, 1915." Also signed on the verso of this leaf by the author's daughter, Becky London. Laid in is a note from Jack London scholar and specialist bookseller Russ Kingman: "This copy of Adventure is the only book inscribed by Jack London that I have ever seen in which he didn't put the name of the recipient."
