'Friend or foe?' That's the question that plagued pilots faced with these cards of aircraft silhouettes; identifying markings on an aircraft is one thing, but when the light is behind it you can only see their silhouette. These cards were issued to the Royal Observer corps and at the time would have been under some fairly heavy restrictions for containing such sensitive and detailed information of military aircraft. At auction from Dickins, the cards are expected to sell for £30-50.
