Istanbul Biennial 2015 to showcase over 1,500 works of art
The Istanbul Biennial 2015 will showcase around 1,500 works from artists around the world in 36 locations across the city.
Titled SALTWATER: A Theory of Thought Forms, this is the 14th time the event has been held.
It opens on September 5.
Curator Carolyn Christov-Bakargiev explains: “This citywide exhibition on the Bosphorus hovers around a material– salt water –and the contrasting images of knots and of waves. It looks for where to draw the line, to withdraw, to draw upon, and to draw out.
“It does so offshore, on the flat surfaces of our devices with our fingertips, but also in the depths, underwater, before the enfolded encoding unfolds.
