Single-owner wine and watch collection at Sotheby's Hong Kong
In early April Sotheby's in Hong Kong will present two special sales of rare wine and watches, both from the collection of a single owner.
The wine sale is expected to achieve HK$40-56 million (US$5.2-$7.2 million), and will offer more than 460 lots including top-quality Burgundy from Domaine de la Romanée-Conti (DRC) and Henri Jayer; Bordeaux from Château Pétrus and Château Lafite;rare Californian and Italian wines; and vintage Champagne from Krug, Dom Pérignon and Bollinger.
“There is plenty of room for manoeuvre in this collection and it is easy to salivate when contemplating such legendary names," said Serena Sutcliffe, Master of Wine (MW) and International Head of Sotheby’s Wine. “This cellar unites all that is superlative and exciting, across the board."
The watch sale encompasses over 100 lots, with a combined estimate of HK$18-27 million (US$2.3-$3.5 million).
Highlighted timepieces will include a limited edition Jaeger-LeCoultre Gyrotourbillon 1, made circa 2008, estimated at HK$1.2-2 million (US$ 150,000-$250,000); a 2008 Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Carbon Concept watch also estimated at HK$1.2-2 million; and a limited edition Audemars Piguet Millenary Maserati MC12 watch, one of just 150 ever made, estimated at HK$780,000-1.2 million (US$100,000-$150,000).
“This delightful selection of over 100 watches speaks volumes about a masculine personality and a dynamic lifestyle at its finest," said Tim Bourne, Sotheby’s Worldwide Head of Watches.
"The wide variety and sheer quantity of rare limited editions vividly reflect the passion and commitment that have been fuelling the collection over the years. This collection epitomising ultimate robustness, strength and elegance will surely appeal to collectors who have a taste for speed and style.”
Wines from the collection will be offered on April 4, with the watches to follow on April 7.
