Christie's are set to offer a remarkable selection of wines from some of the world's most renowned collectors, across two days of sales in Hong Kong.

The auctions on November 27-28 will feature wines from two important single-owner collections, along with further offerings from the cellars of Dr. Gordon Ku and Sir Alex Ferguson CBE.

"Each of these discerning wine connoisseurs have carefully assembled their collections over many years and have kept their wines in remarkable conditions," said Simon Tam, Head of Christie’s Asia Wine Department. "Spanning the world’s most famous and renowned estates, our auctions are particularly exciting for the mix of top quality collectable wines and of more affordable, mature wines ready to be enjoyed.”

The first single-owner collection features an impressive array of Burgundy wines from Lalou Bize-Leroy’s world-famous Domaine Leroy, Maison Leroy and Domaine d’Auvenay. Amongst the leading highlights are more than 12 bottles of assorted Domaine Leroy 1995 wines valued at HK$110,000-$140,000 (US$14,261-$18,150).

The second collection on from the personal cellar of an important Hong Kong collector, will be led by a case of 12 bottles of Romanée-Conti 1988, Grand Cru, Côte de Nuits estimated at HK$950,000-$1,300,000 (US$120,000-$170,000).

Renowned physician Dr. Gordon Ku began collecting wine over 40 years ago, building up a cellar filled with mature wines from classic regions, from Burgundy to the Rhône valley. This second offering from his 'Apothecary Collection' will also include sought-after Champagnes, such as a case of 12 bottles of Krug, Brut 1998, Reims valued at HK$17,000-$24,000 (US$2,200-$3,000).

“Wine drinking and collecting is far from mundane, as it requires knowledge, experience and discipline," said Dr Ku. "Faced with the inability to achieve immortality, a desire to share my passion with others, and a need to create more space for tomorrow’s wines, it is time again for me to part with a portion of my ‘Apothecary: Part II” As such, I see this sale as a celebration of life, good food and wine, and sharing."
The auction will also present collectors with the last opportunity to acquire wines from the cellar of legendary football manager Sir Alex Ferguson CBE, with every winning bidder receiving a signed copy of Sir Alex’s recent book.
