Whisky marks 200th anniversary of Lord Byron's marriage
The Speyside Distillery is to mark the 200th anniversary of the marriage of Lord Byon and Annabella Milbanke by releasing a limited edition bottle of the very whisky the great poet is said to have served on his wedding day.
Byron is said to have been provided the whisky by Harvey's of Edinburgh and even sent a crate to King George III in celebration of his marriage.
Only 1,200 bottles will be released by Spey with the title 'Byron's Choice.'
Sadly Lord and Lady Byron's marriage did not last. After rumors persisted that Lord Byron was having an affair with his half sister, Lady Byron left her husband in January 1816.
Their marriage did however, produce a daughter by the name of Ada Lovelace-who went on to become a leading mathematician whose work was integral to the development of computers.
