Dalmore Oculus is a vintage single malt whisky blended by Whyte and Mackay in Glasgow. The whisky
Dalmore Oculus was created by Glasgow based distillers, Whyte and Mackay’s master distiller, Richard Paterson, who has some 40 years experience in the field. It is a blend of some of the most exceptional whiskies of the past 140 years. The oldest whisky in the blend was distilled in 1868 with other from 1878, 1922, 1926, 1939 and 1951.
The 1951 whisky in the blend is accountable for the rich, spicy orange zest core. There are also trace elements of the tastes and smells of dried fruits, ripe bananas, toffee and almonds which come from an original 50 year old whisky in the blend.
An intense oak, spice and bitter dark chocolate long matured distillate from a 1782 cask was also added to the blend.
The whisky comes in a crystal decanter which is decorated with a solid silver stag icon.
The whisky is unique and therefore only one bottle exists.
On November 18 2009, the bottle of Dalmore Oculus was sold by Bonhams in Edinburgh. It sold for £27,600.
