Ardbeg 1978 whisky is a collectible type of Scotch whisky, produced by The Ardbeg Distillery in Scotland.

The distillery states that it offers the island’s peatiest whisky.

Production at the distillery came to a halt in 1981, before reopening in a small way in 1989. Glenmorangie bought the company in 1997 and full scale production resumed in 1998.

Prior to its closure, the distillery was best known for producing whisky used in blends. Since its resumption of full-scale production in 1998, the distillery has become famed for its single malts

Ardbeg 1978 whisky

Ardbeg 1978 whisky is a 43.0% single malt, distilled in 1978, aged for 20 years and first bottled in 1998. There was a further bottling in 2009.

It is a limited edition whisky, produced in the early days of the distillery’s resumption in the late 1990’s.

Bottles sell for between £200 and £380 through internet dealers.
