Tesco begin selling vinyl: good or bad?
Tesco are now planning on stocking vinyl records for the first time in it's history-but is it really such a good thing?
The supermarket giant began testing the water for vinyl sales earlier this year by stocking copies of the latest Iron Maiden release which seems to have gone well for the company who are now stocking re issues from classic artists such as Elvis and Bob Dylan.
The problem with all of this, as the Guardian points out, is that there are only 2 vinyl pressing plants still active in the UK meaning that smaller independent record labels are getting pushed to the bottom of the pile as major labels dish out re issues in an attempt to cash in on the vinyl renaissance-and the independents are struggling to keep their heads above water.
