The sweater cape. As many mothers have said, "you won't feel the benefit if you don't take that off indoors", these yuppie rebels bucked the trend by not taking their jumpers off indoors and then not putting them on properly when they were outside either. The sweater etiquette (or 'Sweatiquette' as we'll call it) meant that it was a look that couldn't be worn on a cold day, because the idea was to never wear the sweater in a way that would provide any level of warmth. Instead it implied heavily that you might play golf and work for a bank. Of course you couldn't just wear a jumper and then have another jumper wrapped around your neck, either. You'd look like a knitted Superman.

Knitted Superman would be a great band name.
