Zippy the Monkey/Chimpanzee/ Toy Doll/ Stuffed Animal
I have an original Zippy the Monkey. Unfortunately, my mother passed away last November after losing her battle with cancer. She was 70 years old. I still can't feel my body at times. Before she passed away my mom gave me this beautiful monkey which feels and looks as if it is covered in real, thick fur. My mom told me that when she was a little girl she used to walk past a toy store and that this monkey sat front and center in the storefront window. She said that this monkey never had clothes (except for the red collar) and she had no idea it was from Howdy Doody. She just fell in love with a monkey and she wanted it so badly that her older brother bought it for her as a birthday present. There is no tag nor marking that says, "The Rushton Company", but this clearly is an original Zippy from the early 50's. The only markings on both shoes says, "© BB DOLL". Of all the Zippy monkeys I've seen this Zippy has the thickest fur and is quite beautiful. He stands 18 inches tall. I do not know if I want to sell Zippy but please ask me any questions if you are interested or if you know more about this monkey, I would enjoy having a discussion. Thanks.
