Tornado Rex board game
The Tornado Rex board game is a family board game produced by Parker Bros during the early 1990s.
The game was produced by the American games company Parker Bros, and released in 1991. Despite being publicised with a widespread marketing campaign, the game was only produced for a single year before being discontinued.
The Tornado Rex board game
Tornado Rex was a three-dimensional board game featuring a board resembling a mountain trail.
It can be played by 2 – 4 players, each of which draws cards featuring a different type of move such as up, down or sideways. The cards also feature special moves such as a helicopter which enables a player to move 11 spaces or switch places with their opponent.
The aim of the game was for the players to reach the top of the mountain before the Tornado was released, in the form of a plastic spinning top resembling a Tasmanian Devil that would spin down the board knocking players off the trail and back to the start of the game.
How much is a Tornado Rex board game worth?
Although the game was produced during the 1990s, it has already become a rare and sought-after game for collectors.
Examples with all their components intact have been known to sell on sites such as eBay for more than $100, whilst specialist dealers can be found offering the game for between $100 and $200 depending on the condition.
