Robert Burden's Amazing Vintage Toy Artwork
Robert Burden has an artistic talent like no other, there's no doubt about that. But on top of that he's got a unique idea- immortalising vintage toys in his artwork in grand spectacles like this loving tribute to vintage Star Wars action figures. In many instances it probably woul have been easier to paint straight from shots of the films, but Burden has managed to capture the figures perfectly.
In some of the figures you can even see the mold lines from the plastic casting or the slight bend on Jango Fett's helmet because the rubber used on the original was just that little bit too flexible- that's the level of detail we're talking about here. This isn't Robert Burden's first piece like this either, other artworks have included Batman, wrestlers and He-Man.
You can buy prints of this picture on his site or the original which will soon be up for sale for $200,000 which is a reasonable price considering a) it's brilliant b) it took him 2,000 hours c) it's massive. About 2.5 x 4.5 meters in fact.
