The Milton Bradley Lost in Space board game is a vintage game based on the popular U.S science fiction television series of the same name.

The game was published in 1965, and is based on the Irwin Allen television show which aired on CBS from 1965 until 1968. It concerned the adventures of the Robinson Family who leave Earth in the Jupiter 2 to colonise a distant planet, only to become stranded on a strange planet after the mission is sabotaged by the evil Dr Zachary Smith.

The game box features all the members of the Robinson Family, but not Dr Smith as he was originally conceived as a minor villain that would only appear for a few episodes before being written out. The huge popularity of the character meant that he remained, and became one of the show’s main characters throughout the second and third seasons.

The game can be played by up to four players, each of whom has a counter. Each player then spins the spinner, which tells them in which direction to move ('Any Direction', 'Straight Ahead', 'Right', 'Diagonal Ahead' and 'Left'). The aim is for a player to land on their corresponding ‘Finish’ circle without being diverted too far off course.

As the moves are decided at random, players must try to avoid landing in the central monster’s pit, which send them back to the beginning of the game.

How much is a Milton Bradley Lost in Space board game worth?

The game is fairly easy to find, due to the fact it was originally produced in large numbers. Mint condition copies are also more commonly found than many other games of the period, as the game features a small number of playing pieces and does not demand robust gameplay.

Mint-condition copies have sold on auction sites such as eBay for up to $50 - $60, with good used-condition examples priced at around $15 - $20.
