Lot 642: Rocking Horse. A Collinson type dappled rocking horse, circa 1950s, painted carved wood, paint somewhat rubbed and chipped, mane and tail sparse, fabric saddle threadbare, saddle cloth, leather reins, and stirrup leathers renewed, wooden swing stand with rectangular vertical pillars, and lozenge motifs on the top bar of the stand, red painted metal rockers, 81cm (32") high x 99cm (39ins) long. One of the longest-established English rocking horse makers, J. Collinson traces its roots back to 1830s Liverpool, producing distinctive and robust rocking horses in great numbers. (1)
