Barbie Queen of the Prom board game
The Barbie Queen of the Prom board game is a vintage game produced by Mattel, based on their successful range of Barbie dolls.
The first Barbie dolls were produced by Mattel in 1959, and their huge success (selling over 350,000 dolls) led to further toys and games based on the character. One of the first was the Barbie Queen of the Prom board game, published in 1960.
The game was published again in 1962 and 63, and an anniversary version based on the original was published by Mattel in 1991. The second edition of the game published in 1963 is the rarest, as it has a white rather than turquoise box and a different board.
