10. 1908 Charity Shield programme - £10,800
When the Charity Shield was first introduced in England in 1908, it pitted the winners of the professional Football League with those of the amateur Southern league.
This excellent condition Chelsea programme details the match between Manchester United and Queens Park Rangers on April 27, 1908 at Stamford Bridge. It sold for £10,800 at Christie’s in May 2005.
The match ended in a 1-1 draw. Football League champions United prevailed in a replay some four months later.
9. George Best’s Manchester United blazer - £11,200
One of the game’s finest ever players, Northern Irishman George Best’s 1968 Manchester United blazer sold for £11,200 at Bonhams in March 2006.
8. Tony Dunne’s 1968 European Cup final shirt - £11,250
Irish left-back Tony Dunne made 530 appearances for the club, including the 4-1 1968 European Cup final victory over Benfica at Wembley.
The blue number 3 shirt he wore during the match sold for £11,250 at Bonhams in October 2011.
7. Harry Moger’s 1911 Football League Championship medal - £11,400
Goalkeeper Harry Moger won two championships and an FA Cup with the Red Devils in the early 1900s.
Moger’s 15 carat 1911 Football League championship medal achieved £11,400 at Christie’s in November 2005.
6. John Gidman’s 1985 FA Cup winners medal - £11,400
Right back John Gidman is one of a select number of players to have been transferred directly between the two Manchester clubs.
Before heading to City in 1986 he helped United to a 1-0 FA Cup final victory over Everton in 1985. His medal from the game realised £11,400 at Christie’s in April 2007.
5. Bill Foulkes’s 1968 European Cup winners medal - £12,100
Defender Foulkes was a survivor of the 1958 Munich air disaster, which killed eight of his teammates.
Foulkes said that the European Cup win in 1968 helped him “get over the crash”.
His medal sold for £12,100 at Christie’s in October 1992.
4. Henry Cockburn’s 1948 FA Cup winners medal - £13,200
United beat Blackpool 4-2 in the 1948 FA Cup final. United’s left-half that day was Henry Cockburn, who made 13 appearances for England.
His medal sold for £13,200 at Christie’s in May 2005.
3. Alex Stepney’s 1968 European Cup winners medal - £20,000
Former Millwall keeper Stepney’s medal from his appearance in the 1968 European Cup final for United sold for £20,000 at Graham Budd Auctions in November 2008.
2. Signed George Best Manchester United shirt - £24,000
United’s FA Cup fifth-round victory over Northampton Town on February 7, 1970 is no doubt well remembered by Cobblers’ fans.
On that day Best, returning to the side after a six-week suspension, scored six in an 8-2 win at Northampton’s County Ground.
His place had been in doubt right up until kick-off, with the programme omitting him from the line-up.
The signed number 11 shirt he wore that day sold for £24,000 at Christie’s in September 2006.
1. George Best’s 1968 European Cup winners medal - £156,000
The medal awarded to George Best following Manchester United’s 4-1 victory over Benfica in 1968 was sold at Bonhams in 2010 for £156,000.
Best scored the first goal of extra time to make it 2-1 in the final, dribbling round the keeper before placing the ball in the empty net.
