For those of a certain age, Larry Bird lying prone on the side of the court, occasionally raising himself and his ailing back to sink a few "threes", was one of the most memorable sights of basketball. But the Boston Celtics enjoyed a long history before Bird ruled the roost between 1979 and 1992. The club has currently won 17 NBA Championships: a record. And as befits a team with such a long history, their collectibles are in great demand.

10. Red Auerbach’s 1974 Celtics NBA championship ring - $41,434
Red Auerbach (1917 – 2006) was coach, general manager and president of the Celtics between 1950 and 2006. As coach between 1950 and 1966, the Celtics won nine NBA championships. He moved upstairs prior to the 1966-67 season, a position he would maintain until 1984, when he took the role of president.
He is the most decorated team official in the NBA's history.

2. Dave Cowens Boston Celtics MVP Award - $156,000
The Celtics' legendary all-rounder Dave Cowens played ten seasons in Boston, winning two NBA championships and earning a place in the Hall of Fame in the process. This MVP trophy, awarded to Cowans after the 1972-73 season in which he played all 82 games and scored 1,684 points, sold during a Grey Flannel Auctions sale in August 2011 for $156,000.
1. Larry Siegfried’s 1967/68 Celtics warm-up jersey - $180,000
Larry Siegfried helped the Celtics to three NBA titles in his seven year spell with the team, between 1963 and 1970.
The guard’s warm-up jersey, which featured his name and number, made $180,000 at a Sotheby’s sale in June 2007.
