Newcastle memorabilia of MH17 victim John Alder raises £26k for charity
The football memorabilia of longtime Newcastle United fan John Alder who was one of the victims of the MH17 tragedy has raised £26,000 for charity.
Alder had missed just one Newcastle United game in over 40 years, both at home and away, and had gathered an impressive collection of football programmes.
A 1924 Newcastle United Vs Aston Villa programme managed over £3,000 at the auction with all proceeds going to the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation.
Alder's life was cut short along with 298 others when Malaysian Airlines flight MH17 crashed in Ukraine last July. Alder had been traveling to New Zealand with his friend and fellow Newcastle supporter Liam Sweeney to watch the team play in a pre season tournament.
