Brief history/biography

The Los Angeles Angels are a professional American baseball team based in Anaheim, California.

The team was founded in 1892, and since then the Angels have had three different name changes: From 1965 to 1997 the team changed their name to the California Angels, and in 1997 it was changed again to the Anaheim Angels until 2004. In 2005, the Angels changed their team name back to their original name, (the Los Angeles Angels), although the team has been based in Anaheim, California since 1996.

The Angels have won one World Series title in 2002 and eight West Division titles since their formation.

In 2009, the Angels franchise drew in more than three million fans in attendance for the regular baseball season nine years in a row, and in 2011 ESPN ranked the franchise as #4 on their "Ultimate Team Rankings" list.

Some of the most notable players who once played for the team include Bert Blyleven (who played for the California Angels from 1989 to 1992), Frank Robinson (who played for the California Angels from 1973 to 1974), Don Sutton (who played for the team from 1985 to 1987), Rod Carew (who played for the California Angels from 1979 to 1985), Reggie Jackson (who played for the California Angels from 1982 to 1986), Nolan Ryan (who played for the California Angels from 1972 to 1979) and Dave Winfield (from 1990 to 1991).

A 2002 Anaheim Angels team-signed baseball which was autographed by 20 different players of the World Series Championship Angel team including Mike Scioscia, Tim Salmon, Darin Erstad, David Eckstein, Adam Kennedy, Jarrod Washburn, Scott Spiezio, Ramon Ortiz and Francisco Rod for $200 in December of 2006.

A 2002 Anaheim Angels team-signed baseball which was signed by 26 different players of the 2002 World Series Championship Angel team for $425 in March of 2006.

Toys

Stout Auctions in Williamsport, Indiana sold a 74250 Anaheim Angels MTH Rail King boxcar toy along with toys from four other sports teams including the Cleveland Indians, the Seattle Mariners, the Minnesota Twins and the St. Louis Cardinals for $120 in January of 2007.

Dan Morphy Auctions LLC in Denver, Pennsylvania sold one 1961-1962 Anaheim Angels Miniature Nodders Bobble Head toy along with a 1961-1962 Los Angeles Dodgers Bobble Head toy for $125 in August of 2006.
