Football memorabilia makes £25k in Newcastle auction
A collection of football memorabilia that was predominately made up of Newcastle United keepsakes has sold for £25,000 at auction.
Most of the collection was gathered by a Newcastle devotee who had amassed more than one thousand photographs of the club dating from the 1960s, which went on to fetch £8,390.
Further lots at the Anderson and Garland sale included a collection of autographs built up over 15 years by Newcastle businessman Tony Weightman which managed £3,500.
Weightman's collection included the signatures from the worlds of sport, politics and showbiz as well as a signed trainer worn by record breaking triple jumper Jonathon Edwards in Gothenburg in 1995.
