SRS Decoder Breakout Box currently at $242
The SRS Decoder Breakout Box was crucial to the shuttle launch
Bidding on an SRS Decoder Breakout Box, one of a number used on the Apollo flights, currently stands at $242 at RR Auction, with the sale due to close on February 12.
The system was flown aboard the Apollo missions, as well as the first six space shuttle flights, and would have been used to manually destroy the spacecraft in the air in order to prevent the explosion of the fuel tank on the ground in the event of a launch malfunction.
This example is sold alongside four red safety pennants from an unmanned rocket mission.
