Lot 440: Fascinating archive of eleven items related to the Mercury program, including: Gordon Cooper's staple-bound B-26-B, -C Pilot's Amplified Check List, dated "(Revised 22 July 1953)," signed on the front cover in blue ballpoint, "My B-26 check list used for flights. Gordon Cooper"; Scott Carpenter's staple-bound copy of NASA's transcript of the communications of mission MA-7, Carpenter's Mercury flight, dated May 31, 1962, with Carpenter's name written in another hand in the upper right of the first page, and stamped twice, "Official Use Only"; an original printed and staple-bound NASA "MR-3 post-flight debriefing of Alan B. Shepard, Jr.," issued on August 22, 1961; a spiral-bound report entitled "Summary Report DOD Support of Project Mercury July 1959–June 1963"; a Results of the Project Mercury Ballistic and Orbital Chimpanzee Flights booklet, NASA publication SP-39, 1963; a softcover booklet entitled 'The Six Orbits of Sigma 7: Walter M. Schirra's Space Flight,' printed by NASA in 1963; an original canister of film from the Mercury 3 mission dated May 5, 1961; a newsreel about Mercury-Atlas 9 Gordon Cooper's homecoming, entitled "Return of a Hero" on a reel of black-and-white 35mm film; an original canister of film, labeled on the cover, "Mariner Venus/Mercury Trajectory Film 1971"; a collection of approximately two-hundred 1963 IBM keypunch cards of Mariner components, each retaining a negative of the spacecraft's component; and a very rare 1961 Convair employee badge from Cape Canaveral, 2? in diameter, issued to A. N. Gordon. In overall fine condition, with expected handling wear, slight dampstaining, and some slight toning and creasing.
