Selection of individually signed Commemorative Covers by various members of the Mercury Astronauts comprising Scott Carpenter (1925-2013, the second American to orbit the earth and the fourth American in space; the cover commemorating Capsule Aurora 7 and featuring an image of the astronaut, post marked at Port Canaveral, 24th May 1962, signed in black ink with his name alone), Gordon Cooper (1927-2004, piloted the longest and final Mercury flight in 1963, becoming the first American to sleep in space; the cover commemorating MA 9 - Faith 7 and featuring an image of the astronaut, post marked at Cape Canaveral, 15th May 1963, signed in blue ink with his name alone to a clear area and also bearing a facsimile signature), John Glenn (1921- , the first American to orbit the earth and the fifth person in space; the cover commemorating Project Mercury and featuring an image of the astronaut, post marked at Cape Canaveral, 20th February 1962, signed and inscribed in bold black ink to a clear area), Gus Grissom (1926-1967, the second American to fly in space; the cover commemorating Glenn orbiting the earth and post marked at the Friendship 7 Postal Station, 19th July 1962, signed by Grissom with his name alone to a clear area; autographs of Grissom are rare in any form as a result of his tragically early death at the age of 40 in the Apollo I fire), Wally Schirra (1923-2007, the first person to fly in space three times and the only person to have flown in the Mercury, Gemini and Apollo missions; the cover commemorating Signa 7 and featuring an image of the astronaut, post marked at Cape Canaveral, 3rd October 1962, signed in bold black ink with his name alone to a clear area and also bearing a facsimile signature) and Alan Shepard (1923-1998, the first American to travel in space and the fifth man to walk on the Moon; the cover commemorating Freedom 7 and featuring an image of the spacecraft, post marked at Virginia Beach, 18th July 1961, signed in bold black ink with his name alone to a clear area and also bearing a facsimile signature).
