Meriden silver plated napkin ring - Wikicollecting's guide to the Meriden silver plate company. Meriden was founded in Connecticut in 1852 by Charles Casper. By 1876 the company had won a first place medal at the Centennial Exhibition in Philadelphia due to their variety of silver-plated white metal hollow ware. Pieces of Meriden can sell for hundreds or even thousands of dollars today. A Silver-plated Boston lighthouse cocktail shaker was sold by Sotheby's in 2002 for $18,000.
